The proposed development at 66 Cambridge Street in Charlestown will transform an auto-centric industrial site that has long been inaccessible to the public into a modern, sustainable, transit-oriented mixed-use campus that delivers economic opportunities for area residents and businesses, creates new outdoor green space for the community and contributes to the emerging growth and revitalization of Sullivan Square.
The buildings are designed to reflect the neighborhood’s existing character while providing sophisticated, state-of-the-art life sciences commercial space with active ground floor uses – including restaurant and retail. The significant public realm space will allow for gatherings and encourage neighborhood involvement and use. The site will include a 700-foot-long “Pedestrian Connector,” designed to enhance access to/from the MBTA’s Sullivan Square Station, the emerging neighborhood west of Rutherford Avenue, and the surrounding community.
